Making a Body Bag

Making a Body Bag

I am going to make a body bag for our opening scene, we planned our scene and had an idea about a body bag hanging from the ceiling of the killer's 'lair'. I did some research about making a body bag out of things that I can easily buy or already have.

I looked on Youtube and looked at some websites to find the best way to make the body. The best ones that I could find were on Pinterest, there is a picture of the inside of the 'body bag' to show how the shape is created and a picture of the finished body bag.

I made the inside of the body bag with some things I found in the recycling that i thought could be good for making the body. I also used woggles for the legs.

I used tape to hold the 'torso' together, using the two strongest boxes and some other containers to create the right shape. I used a tea bag box and cut it in half to make the head and neck part of the body.

I then added some plastic milk bottles and a shampoo bottle to make the waist, I found it quite hard to get them all stuck together and taping them to the rest of the 'body' because I ran out of the tape I was using so I had to use cello-tape.

However, when I found some duct tape I went back to it and made it more secure.

I decided that I needed to add some shape to the body to make it more realistic so I put one of my old bras on it and added some of the spare woggle to the stomach and upper thighs area to make the body more real.

I also added the head which is made of stuffing in a plastic bag, I later put some more plastic bags into it to make it bigger and also cut the lid off a bottle and put it underneath the bin bag to make a nose because I noticed that in the pictures I looked at of these body bags online, there is no nose shape on the heads which I think is unrealistic.

I used some old woggles that I found to make the legs. I think they worked well because the bend in the woggle looked quite like a leg when it is bent.

I finished off by covering the front side of the body with some old foam I found and then putting some plastic bags on top of that to make the bag seem thicker. I covered the whole body in three bin bags and then wrapped some parts with duct tape to make it look neater.

I really liked how it turned out and I think it looks quite realistic, although it isnt very sturdy around the middle so it could break if it is held wrong. As well as that, the back of it is very flat because I didnt have enough foam or bags to cover all of it, but hopefully we won't need to show the back of it in the shot in our opening scene.
